The 16th Annual Children’s Friend Walk & Run sponsored by Panera Bread

Join Children’s Friend and Panera Bread on Saturday, May 5, 2018 for a great day at the park for a good cause. We’re raising money for Rhode Island’s most vulnerable children with a walk or timed 5K run, live performances, arts and crafts, and a free lunch courtesy of our Title Sponsor, Panera Bread. The proceeds from The Walk & Run benefit Children’s Friend, Rhode Island’s oldest child welfare agency

Known as “The Friendliest Race in L.A.”, the Valley Crest Half Marathon is a popular trail half-marathon on historic Mulholland fire road that treats runners to beautiful spring foliage and magnificent valley and ocean views.

In it’s 19th year, this challenging but fast race makes perfect competition for the serious runner and is also “user friendly” enough to be a great first-timer trail run! The course is entirely on city-maintained fire roads in early June and typically has cool, overcast weather. We look forward to having you run with us!

The “Fallen Heroes 5K Run/Walk” proceeds benefit the Elizabeth A. Loncki Scholarship Fund, which helps families send their children to St. Peter School. The fund is named in memory of Senior Airman Elizabeth A. Loncki, a graduate of St. Peter School. Elizabeth is a hometown hero from New Castle, DE and a true American hero who became the first woman from Delaware to die in combat in Iraq when the 23-year-old was killed by a car bomber on January 7, 2007, just 10 days before she was due to come home.

The race helps keep Elizabeth’s memory alive and assists others who want to attend the same elementary school that helped educate this heroic woman.

Run proceeds benefit Muscular Dystrophy Association.  Run for those who can’t!  GUARANTEE SHIRT-REGISTRATION MUST BE POSTMARKED or ONLINE BY MAY 25^th.  COURSE: The 3.1-mile race will be on a paved trail and through a paved park, the 6.2 mile race will continue on the Rails to Trails.  Wheel-measured course with professional timing by Bryn Mawr Running Company. 

AWARDS: Medals will be presented to top 3 male and female finishers in these age categories: <13, 14–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, & 60+. 

PARKING: Along South 8th St up the hill toward Lebanon High School or the school parking lot. 

SCHEDULE:
7:00–8:30 a.m. Registration/Packet Pick-up;
9:00 a.m. 10K and 5k Run begins;
9:10 a.m. 1 Mile Walk begins;
10:15 a.m. Awards. 

Cost: 10k – $30 until 4/29, $35 until 6/21, $40 through race day; 5k run and 1 mile walk – $20 until 4/29, $25 until 6/21, $30 through race day; Virtual Runner – $20 donation.

Brad Schoener was a music director in the Upper Darby School District for 25 years.  He lost a courageous battle to cancer in 2009, but not before having an incredibly positive impact on the lives of countless students, colleagues, and friends.  Brad was loved wherever he went and helped mold the future paths of thousands of children through his passion for music and his ability to bring out that passion in his students. 

Proceeds from the 5K Run and 1 Mile Spirit Walk and the Festival of Upper Darby Arts support the Brad Schoener Memorial Fund.  The mission of the Memorial Fund is to support the musical abilities and aspirations of instrumental music students in the Upper Darby School District through the funding of instruments, instruction, and experiences for interested and talented students who might not otherwise have the opportunities due to personal circumstances.  This event is a proud partnership of the Upper Darby School District, Arlington Cemetery, Upper Darby Township, Mayor Thomas N. Micozzie, and the Brad Schoner Music Fund of the Upper Darby Arts & Education Foundation. 

AWARDS & PRIZES FOR ALL AGE GROUPS – Schoener School Spirit Award; YMCA Cup & Cash Award; To the UDSD School with the highest percent of participants (walkers & runners).  Cost: Adults (older than 18) – $25; Students (18 and younger) – $15.

Every child needs a hero but abused children need superheroes!!

The 11th Annual Pittsburgh Superhero Foundation 5K Run/Walk and 1K Family Run is a family event to raise funds and awareness to help prevent child abuse and aid abuse victims.

• Registration for the 5K Run and 5K Walk is $25
• Registration for the 1K Fun Run is $15

April 7, 2019 there will be a registration event at Fun Fore All – more info to come on that later.

Race Day Registration opens is at 8 a.m. The 1K kicks off at 9:30 a.m., 5K Runners at 9:45 and 5K Walkers at 10:00 a.m. All proceeds benefit CASA of Allegheny County.

Costumes are not required – but add to the fun!

There will be kids’ activities, food and fun. Under 5 are free.

Premiums available for every registered participant who raises the following amounts:
$100 – Water bottle
$250 – Vacuum Insulated Bottle (plus the premiums listed above)
$500 – Camp Folding Chair (plus the premiums listed above)
$1000 – FitBit (plus the premiums listed above)
To be eligible for prizes, the reward level must be reached as of April 30, 2019
