Brad Schoener was a music director in the Upper Darby School District for 25 years.  He lost a courageous battle to cancer in 2009, but not before having an incredibly positive impact on the lives of countless students, colleagues, and friends.  Brad was loved wherever he went and helped mold the future paths of thousands of children through his passion for music and his ability to bring out that passion in his students. 

Proceeds from the 5K Run and 1 Mile Spirit Walk and the Festival of Upper Darby Arts support the Brad Schoener Memorial Fund.  The mission of the Memorial Fund is to support the musical abilities and aspirations of instrumental music students in the Upper Darby School District through the funding of instruments, instruction, and experiences for interested and talented students who might not otherwise have the opportunities due to personal circumstances.  This event is a proud partnership of the Upper Darby School District, Arlington Cemetery, Upper Darby Township, Mayor Thomas N. Micozzie, and the Brad Schoner Music Fund of the Upper Darby Arts & Education Foundation. 

AWARDS & PRIZES FOR ALL AGE GROUPS - Schoener School Spirit Award; YMCA Cup & Cash Award; To the UDSD School with the highest percent of participants (walkers & runners).  Cost: Adults (older than 18) - $25; Students (18 and younger) - $15.
