It’s back! A Bozeman running tradition, The Sweet Pea Run, is excited for another great race this year on Saturday, August 8th. This great community event is a liaison event of the Sweet Pea Festival and one of the oldest running races in Bozeman offering something for competitive runners to families looking for a fun event. With a start and finish for both a 5k and 10k race on Main Street, this is a great way to get out and see Bozeman. Whether its running past the Sweet Pea Festival grounds, by MSU or touring the historic downtown, you will get a great slice of Bozeman while you run. The Sweet Pea Run is also known for their great prizes. Top finishers from each race could receive cash prizes, running shoes, and other great accessories.

With divisions in Masters, Open, Clydesdale and Athena as well as age group prizes there are many ways to head home with something from the race. The 10K has also been designated the  RRCA State Championship race this year.  All of this is brought to you by the Big Sky Wind Drinkers (BSWD); Bozeman’s local running club. With a strong tradition of giving back to the community, this organization supports programs like Cancer Community Support, Road Runners Club of America, operates a year round community race series, and is a major sponsor for THRIVE’S  Girls On The Run program.

In zip code order, choose from: 1. A 0.8 Mile kids’ race (1.29K) – Course along a flat, paved trail within Locke Avenue Park. Kids ages 5-12 will receive bibs, tech T-shirts and medals. This will be a manually timed event.

The GRT offers four events to provide participants a choice of distances to match their experience, early-season fitness, and season-long goals – the 30K Trail Run, the 50K and 50 Mile Ultramarathons and the 50-Mile 5-person relay. Except for a short stretch at the start and near the end, the 30K and 50K events will be entirely on an exceptional single-track trail. In addition to the single-track, the 50 Mile course also includes a section of very runnable, yet very hilly, double-track/fire roads through beautiful hardwood forests.

This race is held annually to celebrate our local trails and to provide a donation of all net proceeds to Moraine State Park, Jennings Environmental Center and McConnells Mill State Park.  Our generous race sponsors have offset many of the race costs so that $99,000 could be provided to these parks over the race’s lifespan of eight years.

Thank you for your interest in participating in our event. Virtually every family in the United States has been touched by mental illness and addiction. Challenge stereotypes, encourage acceptance and eliminate stigma by participating in Interfaith Social Services’ Stop the Stigma 5K. This is our opportunity to show our community that we stand by those affected by mental illness and addiction.

The 46th Annual Stop the Stigma 5K features beautiful views of the Boston skyline and ocean as seen from the Squantum and Marina Bay neighborhoods of Quincy. If you are a 5K runner up for a little more of a challenge, this course is for you. Parts of this course can be “hilly” at times. But it is well-paved and stroller-friendly. Race is held rain or shine. All fees are nonrefundable.
