The Trailbreaker is Waukesha's home grown running event and has been held annually since 1993. This Waukesha tradition initially consisted of a Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 5K Run/Walk. All three of these events are certified by the USATF and may provide qualifying credentials for other races. We are excited to once again offer a 10K event at the Trailbreaker. The Trailbreaker originally was the brainchild of three running colleagues (amigos). Since 2009, the Park Foundation of Waukesha, Inc. (PFW Inc.), has organized and hosted this annual event as a fundraiser for the enhancement of city parks, trails, recreation programs and the urban forest.

More Info:

Race start and finish is located at the Schuetze Recreation Center, 1120 Baxter Street, Waukesha, Wisconsin, 53186.  This Recreation Center is in Frame Park, along the Fox River.

The Marathon course covers approximately 6 miles of city streets and sidewalks, 15 miles of paved trails (including the Fox River Trail & Glacial Drumlin Trail) and 5 miles of the Ice Age Trail.  Miles 11 - 15 are extremely rugged. Except for the Ice Age Trail, the trail is subject to only gentle grades. Marathon turn-around is the top of the 40' Lapham Peak Tower, the highest point in Waukesha County, with spectacular views of the surrounding lake country.

The Half-Marathon course covers approximately 6 miles of city streets and sidewalks and 8 miles of paved trails (including the Fox River Trail & Glacial Drumlin Trail). The trail is subject to only gentle grades. Runners will experience the scenic views of the historic City of Waukesha, the Fox River and the Kettle Moraine scenery of southeast Wisconsin countryside. The trail crosses city streets and country roads.

The 10K trail is subject to only gentle grades. Runners will experience the scenic views of the historic City of Waukesha and the Fox River Parkway System. The trail crosses city streets and country roads.

The 5K course is run entirely in beautiful Frame Park. The route utilizes the paved pathways immediately adjacent to the Fox River. This makes it ideal for runners, walkers and strollers. It is a family-friendly event where all ages can participate. The start is a "group" start with the finish individually timed.
