5k thru marathons for runners
The McArthur Family YMCA staff and volunteers are excited to host the 26th Annual Shrimp Festival 5k Run/Walk to be held on May 2, 2020. This great family friendly event continues to be a staple of our community and the Shrimp Festival weekend.
The 23rd Annual Equal Access Clinic 5K Race will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 8:00am at Southwest Recreation Center! The Equal Access Clinic Network is a network of student-run free healthcare clinics established by the University Of Florida College Of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida.
Our clinics are made possible through the generous contributions of our student and faculty volunteers as well as funding from the community.
The First 200 5K Registrants will receive a commemerative shirt, included in your entry fee. Shirts will be included to the first 200 registered 5K particpants who enter before the Feb 15 shirt cut off date! Late participants will not be guaranteed a shirt or prefered size.
Not up to a full 5K but consider yourself a bibliophile? Come out and enjoy an easy 1 mile walk with your friends.
Adult 1 Mile entry is only $10. Children 12 and under are FREE. However, they MUST bring a new book to check in, which will be donated to underprivilaged children. Both adults and children may purchase a commemorative shirt for only $10. The 1 Mile is not timed and does not include awards.

That Dam 30K is the perfect training run to get ready for the Los Angeles Marathon.
The 30K course consists of two 9-mile loops starting in the Hansen Dam Recreation Area. The course travels along streets that are closed to traffic and, then, crosses the two-mile dam. After the second loop, the run finishes in the park. Water stations and toilets will be available throughout the course, except on the dam. Water stations will be located before the dam and after exiting the dam.
Students Run LA uses the process of training for the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon to teach our students how to set a goal and work hard to complete it. Over the 7-month training period the students learn how to transfer these skills into their education and their lives. This race (and SRLA in general) is not competitive. SRLA’s motto is “complete NOT compete.” So there will be no overall or age group awards for this race.

November 17, 2019 – Run through Woodley Park with Students Run LA at race #2 of the SRLA Race Series. Race starts at 7AM.
Parking is limited.
All profits from this race will go to the Carey R. Barber, M.D. Scholarship for Providers Depression Awareness and Suicide Prevention fund, providing funding for medical students who are interested in helping this cause.
