Description: This 8.4 mile fall classic follows Philadelphia s most beautiful recreational path around the Schuylkill River. Started in 1972 by Dave Brier of the Jewish Y, this race has been a local favorite "cult" race for 45 years. The course is run on the sidewalk and is self-contained the whole way and free of any traffic. The course is almost entirely flat. Proceeds of the event will benefit the development and maintenance of Fairmount Park, specifically the Belmont Plateau Cross Country courses. Philadelphia Athletic Charities is committed to providing for the upkeep of the Belmont Plateau which is used by thousands of cross country runners. Cost: $20 until 8/30; $25 until 9/28; $30 until 11/14; $35 until 12/2; $40 race day.
